Focus Attention on Discipleship
OUR VICTORY-“EVERY ATHLETE A DISCIPLE” Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”–Matthew 28:19-20
As we begin our Spring Sports season let’s focus our attention on discipleship, the primary purpose we offer athletics at Christian Academy of Louisville. Although we want to be excellent in all areas of athletics and desire to win, we strive to find coaches who have a heart for the Lord and coach for a higher purpose than just winning games. Here are some guiding principles we look for from our coaches and athletic teams.
- Be Christ centered – Hebrews 12:1-3
- Model servant leadership - Matthew 20:26-28
- Be salt & light to the community – Matthew 5:13-14
- Teach athletes to:
- Know Christ – Ephesians 4:13
- Experience growth through discipline – Hebrews 12:7-11
- Put on the armor – Ephesians 6:10-11
- Sharpen each other - Proverbs 27:17
May the Lord bless all our coaches and athletes during the upcoming spring sport season and may they be an example to all who watch them compete. Please pray for all our coaches and athletes and I look forward to seeing you at the games. If you ever need to reach me, please do not hesitate to contact me at anytime as I am here to serve the Lord and you. God bless!
